Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) is an NDT technique used to detect surface and slightly subsurface flaws in in ferroelectric materials such as iron, nickel, and some alloys. MT can be done either during fabrication of equipment or testing for induced flaws or monitoring repairs. MT is cost effective, fast, and does not require the level of surface preparation required by other NDT methods. The performance of MT is relatively quick and easy.
Magnetic Particle Testing can be done with either DRY or WET Fluorescent particles. The dry method is more portable and convenient, while the wet fluorescent is generally more sensitive and requires an ultraviolet light.
